Pennants News

2020 Interclub Pennants were abandoned in May due to the number of rounds impacted by Covid-19 alert levels 4 and 3, where no tournament play was permitted. The following is the last report we had from 2020. Looking forward to a good season in 2021.

The Men's Presidents Cup team hosted Marton in the first round on Saturday 8th February. The Marton team were very complementary about the condition of the course and credit goes to Bully and his team for continued great course preparation. Some of the pin positions for the day were very challenging. Levin prevailed 7.5 to 4.5.

The Men's A Pennants played the first round at Manawatu Golf Club on Sunday 16th February, with Palmerston North winning 7.5 to 1.5.

The Men's C Pennants played the first round at Linton Camp on Sunday 16th February, with Linton winning 5.5 to 3.5. The game was played in very hot and humid conditions, the fairways were very fast and players could feel the heat emanating from the ground and pitching and chipping the ball on to the green had its own difficult challenges as Linton camp golf course are experiencing significant water restrictions from the Army. All credit to Linton camp on their win and I hope they make the finals after the round robin matches. Despite the loss, I believe the Levin C Pennant team will acquit themselves very well for the rest of the round robin and will be competitive to make the finals.

The team make up for the rest of the competition for 2020 is as follows: Keiran Giddens (Keiran will be filling in for the A pennants as required), Rob Ward, Corey MacMillan, Tama Paki (travelling reserve, manager), Dobbie Martin, Corey Harris, Dave Lomax and Trevor Pouwhare (fill in).

The Men's Handicap Pennants played the first round at Fielding Golf Club on Sunday 16th February, with Manawatu winning 5.5 to 3.5.
